Leadership and management commitment-

The Leadership and Management challenge has a huge impact on integrating and aligning a management system to deliver a comprehensive performance management system.

Lack of measurement

Targets are set but no relevant measure is put in place. In other cases, no data can be collected or is kept as evidence to track performance.

Biasness and discrimination

Managers and supervisors are often biased toward some workers. Because of their gender, race, or age.

Time consuming

Most performance management appraisal methods are time comsuming and it therefore becomes a difficult process.


How is this the case in relation to public sector management and wicked problems

Leadership and management commitment

In the public sector leaders and managers are not committed to the performance management. As long as you show up at work all is good. No one cares to know if you are fulling your duties.

Lack of measurement

Most public offices have no measure or the data to track performance. For example someone working at a child services office, have no way to proff they are doing their job. They just place kids in any foster home that will accept them without making the necesary accessments.

Biasness and discrimanation

The colour of someones skin, age or gender should not matter when it comes to job performance. However, for a long time now many public affices would not employ a woman and if they do, they are always discrimanated. This should not be the case, all that matters is how god your are at your job.

Time consuming

Public sector are know to have the longest performance accessment programs. It can take an year just to get feed back on who did not do their job if something goes wrong.

This makes the whole system wicked.
