Elements are made up of a single type of atom that can't be broken down into simpler compounds.
A substance that cannot be broken down into another substance is referred to as an element. Every element is made up of atoms of a specific kind. This is why the chemical elements are so unlike to one another. At least one or more elements are present in every atom in the cosmos.
Compounds are made up of two or more types of atoms (elements) chemically mixed in a definite proportion.
