how does genes affect us as a person
Genes are the basic units of heredity and comprise a sequence of nucleotides in DNA that encode the synthesis of gene products. During gene expression, the DNA (genes) are first copied onto RNA, which may become a template for a functional or structural protein, or the RNA itself can be functional directly.
In simple terms, our genes are the hereditary coded messages that drive protein synthesis, and the proteins determine the structural or functional behavior of a cel/organism/us. Thus as a person, you are what you are - in terms of structure and function - because of the genes, you carry.
