What is the role of assessment in the progression of learners?
Assessment is how we identify our learners’ needs, document their progress, and determine how we are doing as teachers and planners. Assessment is a process that includes four basic components: Measuring improvement over time, Motivating students to study and Evaluating the teaching methods.
Assessment plays an important role in the process of learning and motivation. Well-designed assessment methods provide valuable information about student learning. They tell us what students learned, how well they learned it, and where they struggled. Assessment is also a key component of learning because it helps students learn. When students are able to see how they are doing in a class, they are able to determine whether or not they understand course material. Assessment can also help motivate students. Through assessment students are more likely to learn because instruction is focused and because they are assessed on what they are taught.
