Name and describe the six career hurdles as conceptualized by Ng and Feldman
Socio-demographic barriers (e.g., being non-Caucasian), trait-related barriers (e.g., low cognitive ability), motivational barriers (e.g., unwillingness to relocate), skill-related barriers (e.g., lack of formal education), social environment barriers (e.g., lack of mentors), and work environment barriers (e.g., jobs with little control) all made commanding high salaries more difficult. Employees and organizations both have an undeniable interest in salary. Salary is a major factor in job satisfaction, the level of living available outside of work, social standing and self-esteem, and overall life satisfaction for individuals.Indeed, there is no limit beyond which money and subjective happiness are no longer linked. Salary is not only a key motivator for employees, but it also accounts for a significant portion of an organization's total costs.
