After a short time at the school, Mr. Simpson, notices that the staff members  are generally happy but most of them are putting in the minimum 08:00 am to 14:00 pm  effort. The staff members are often not punctual and tasks take a long time to be  completed. Mr. Simpson decides to restore their sense of professionalism and  commitment, and to improve the staff’s performance. He calls a meeting, presents the  new policy to the staff and provides sets of rules for performing certain functions. Each staff member is given a detailed job description.

The leadership style that is being used by Mr. Simpson is the transformational leadership style. It is transformational leadership since Mr. Simpson aim is to improve and transform the productivity of the staff members through presenting the new policy to staff. Additionally, he aims to transform the way duties are conducted by staff in the school. Hence each staff is given a detailed job description. For this situation, this is a suitable leadership style. Since how the staff is conducting themselves needs to be corrected and improved for the school to achieve its goals.
