How does Orwell present the Society and totalitarian government in Orwell’s 1984 (30 marks)
The ideas expressed by Orwell in the novel 1984 are meant to warn readers of the possibility and dangers of the totalitarian government. He describes the ugly incidents that have been witnessed in some countries that practice totalitarian leadership and specifically the extreme extents that that such government could go to increase its powers. He presents the society as major supporters of the totalitarian governments despite the cruelties and oppressions witnessed under such regimes. In short, Orwell presents a perfect totalitarian society with the government having absolute power over all things and all people in the country.
