An electoral college is a system where each state gets a certain number of electors depending on the number of representatives of the congress.

Electoral college system of election is considered undemocratic, depicts the winner takes all approach and allows the candidate who does not win majority of the votes to be elected.

The electoral college system however gives states power in federal system, encourages one-to-one campaign approach and reduces chaos and commotion during voting.
