Question #262513

A ball of mass 17.10 kg and diameter 38.13 metre is held fully underwater ( density 1000 kg/m^ 3) Calculate:

a) the upthrust on the ball

b) the density of the ball

c) the percentage of the ball above the surface of the water if it is allowed to float

Expert's answer

(A)

upthrust will be equals to it’s weight

which is 17.10kg

(B)

density will be;

d=m/v=17.10/38.13=0.448d=m/v=17.10/38.13=0.448 kg/m

(C)

There will be 100% chances to hit the ball on surface because it is coming back with the same upthrust force as it’s weight so there will be no hindrance.
