Avogadro's number is 6.022×10236.022 \times 10^{23}. It means how many elementary units (atoms or molecules) are in 1 mole of a given substance.

n=N/NAn = N / N_{A}

N – how many atoms or molecules are in a given substance.

NAN_{A} – Avogadro's number

n – how many moles of a given substance

For example we have 60.22×102360.22 \times 10^{23} molecules of water. How many moles of water do we have?

n=N/NA=60.22×1023/6.022×1023=10 moles of watern = N / N_{A} = 60.22 \times 10^{23} / 6.022 \times 10^{23} = 10 \text{ moles of water}
