Compare and contrast the contribution of classical theories to the analysis and understanding of the role of society in environmental problems and intervention to mitigate pollution as an environmental problem;

There are three types of classical theories namely; Bureaucracy by Weber, Administrative Theory by Fayol and Scientific Management by Taylor. In this case we would look at the similarities and differences between the scientific management theory and administrative management theory. The following are some of the similarities;

Both Fayol and Taylor were engineers by profession and developed ideas and principles on management from their personal experiences, that is, the approach of both was practical.

 Both recognized to a limited extent the significance of the human factor and of enthusing the workers.

Both aimed at improving the then prevailing conditions of management and putting it on a rational basis. They were at one in the scientific enthusiasm which they bought to bear on practical problems.

On the other hand, the two theories had the following differences;

Scientific management theory considers employee efficiency, whereas administrative management theory considers human and behavioral determinants of the organization.

Administrative theory emphasizes on activities like planning and controlling, whereas scientific theory emphasizes on work study and time of study of workers.

Finally, administrative management theory has more emphasis on top management, whereas scientific management theory has an emphasis on low-level management in an organization.

The society has the following role in mitigating environmental problem;

(a)Use energy more efficiently. This can be achieved by producing electricity and natural gas and delivering it to your door generates greenhouse gas emissions.

Install renewables. Clean, renewable energy systems, such as solar and wind, can reduce your impact on the environment significantly while lowering your energy bill.

Conserve water. We can conserve water by ensuring that we only turning on the tap when cleaning our toothbrush when brushing our teeth.

Drive less. We can reduce environmental pollution by driving less and riding more. This is because vehicles emits gases that pollute the environment.
