  1. Socio-demographic hurdles include age, sex, education, migration background and ethnicity, religious affiliation, marital status, household, employment, and income. For instance, the report shows that the share of ethnic and racial minority workers in skilled -managerial, professional, and technical- occupations are lower compared to that of workers in the dominant ethnic group in a majority of countries.
  2. Trait-related hurdles such as low cognitive ability greatly influence career paths. Employment requires one to learn new skills and engage socially to which can also provide one's life and provide income. These trait-related hurdles which reflect in the deficit of knowledge hugely affect the chance of high income.
  3. Motivational Hurdles are the blocks to motivating employees in executing a new strategy or ideas like being unwilling to relocate. These will result in an unmotivated employee which can affect productivity.
  4. Social challenges refer to a difficulty that people have when socializing with people in the community or engaging in normal social behaviours. A person who cannot hold a job or have a conversation is an example of a person with social challenges
  5. Social environment hurdles mean no connections of people that have an impact and influence on their lives at home, at work, and in their communities. Those who are socially involved in the environment, tend to improve academic, social, and economic prospects.
  6. Work environment hurdles mean physical conditions in which you perform your job. Low levels of control in jobs and the condition of the work environment to which you are unable to set your own goals, decide how you accomplish tasks and prioritize work. Examples of jobs that could be traditionally low-control include construction workers, auto mechanics.
