The dominant scientific community may not have considered more than the typical five senses due to the idea's origin. The commonly known and labeled five senses of touch, sight, smell, touch, and hearing originates from Aristotle's De Anima (On the Soul). The man devotes a separate chapter for the senses. He reasonably argues that there is a sense organ for every sense. However, humans have more than five senses including the vestibular system.
