Peripheral Component Interconnect Express is a high-peed serial computer expansion bus standard that was designed to replace the older PCI standard.
The PCIe has more improved features over the older bus standards; has a higher rate at which data is transfered , a lower count of I/O pin, the physical footprint is much smaller, better performance scaling for bus devices, a more detailed error detection and reporting mechanism.
Another great feature is that it can handle data from multiple sources i.e. instead of one bus, the PCIe has a switch that will control several point-to-point serial connections hence acting like a network.
