Question #152118

In Young's double slit experiment,a light of wavelength Is exposed to the slits which are separated by a distance d.analyze what change in the fringes will take place on the screen.will there any change be observed on the screen if one slit is closed?

Expert's answer

Answer

In Young's double slit experiment,a light of wavelength Is exposed to the slits which are separated by a distance d then fringe is given

β=Ddλ\beta=\frac{D}{d\lambda}

This tells all changement.

If one of slit is closed then interference fringes are not formed on the screen but a fringe pattern is observed due to diffraction from slit.
