Suppose you throw basketball upward. Is it true or wrong to say that “you have not increased the internal energy of the air within the basketball”? Either yes or no explain it with a solid reason

The internal energy of a body does not include the kinetic energy of motion of the system as a whole, nor the potential energy of the system as a whole due to external force fields which includes the energy of displacement of the system's surroundings.

So, it is true to say that “you have not increased the internal energy of the air within the basketball”. It can't be explained with a solid reason because it is so by the definition.
