Perception management is not applicable in the virtual work environment because it involves sharing messages or ideas and ensuring that the recipients understand them. To achieve this, the management and the employees need to influence them, interpreting and observing their emotional responses to ascertain the efficiency of the messages shared. In a virtual work environment, employees work in different home environments and face different challenges; applying perception management is therefore not effective because it is hard to know if they understand.
