Watch the following video that gives us a basic idea of what we regard as communication and how important it is to our day-to-day interaction:
What is communication
Now do the activity.
You are appointed as a PR officer for Department of Health and you are tasked to create an awareness about health safety. In your own words, with relevant examples, define communication and select three media platforms which you can use to communicate your message. Indicate how you will use either verbal or non-verbal communication.
Communication is the act of sending data from one location, person, or organization to another. There is a single sender, a message, and a recipient for each communication. Although communication appears to be a simple notion, it is a difficult talent to master.
Social media platforms are:
1) Facebook
People's ability to interact with others and build positive relationships with peers improves as a result of Facebook. Through tags and sharing, Facebook allows for greater one-on-one and guided conversation which is non-verbal. This is an example of how we might develop connections by improving our bonding with people.
2) Twitter
Twitter is a free online social networking website that allows users to send and receive short messages in a group setting. In that it sends a message to a specified list, a Twitter message is similar to sending an e-mail to a distribution list. The message, on the other hand, must be brief and succinct; in fact, it must be limited to no more than 140 characters.
3) Instagram
Instagram remains the most effective platform for improving brand visibility as a way of verbal communication. Instagram's reach dwarfs that of other social media platforms: it is ten times that of Facebook, 54 times that of Pinterest, and 84 times that of Twitter. Users post comments, discuss their experiences, and give your brand hundreds of hearts.
