To be successful in his career, a manager must learn science and the skill of implementing it. As a result, management is a careful combination of science and art, because it demonstrates the principles while the application of these concepts is a work of art. Science teaches how to "know," while art teaches how to "do." For example, an individual cannot become a great singer unless he has a thorough understanding of numerous ragas and applies his unique talent to the art of singing. Similarly, knowing the concepts is not enough for a manager; he must also apply them to diverse administrative issues, which is why science and art are complimentary rather than mutually incompatible.
