Discuss an information system that serve Marketing Department and another IS that can serve the Human Resource department
An information system used in the marketing department has four components which include; the internal reporting system, the marketing research systems, the marketing intelligence system, and marketing models. The four components are synchronized together and each has its own various functions and storage of data. It helps in understanding customer needs and wants. It helps in monitoring the marketing environment and market trends. It aids in making sound future decisions. It helps in formulating marketing and strategic development plans. The main purpose of the marketing information system is to provide authenticated and relevant information to market decision-makers to effective decision-making related to marketing activities i.e. product, pricing, distribution, branding and promotion, packaging, among others.
The Human Resource information system(HRIS) is a system that is used to collect and store data on an organization's employees. It encompasses the basic functionalities needed for end-to-end Human Resources Management (HRM). It is a system for recruitment, performance management, learning & development, among others. HRIS allows budget control, tracking and screening, skills matching, appraisals, feedback, manpower planning, succession planning, skills monitoring, training needs analysis, and global analysis. The main issue is to define what are the real implications and the role of the information systems in HRM.
