Khusrau is known as the "Father of Qawwali" (a sacred type of Sufi singing in the Indian subcontinent) and is credited with introducing the ghazal song style to India, which is currently popular in both India and Pakistan. From Khqn's qasidas through Nizami's Khamsa, Khusrau was adept in various types of Persian poetry established in medieval Persia. He employed 11 different metrical schemes, each with 35 other divisions. Ghazal, masnavi, qata, rubai, do-baiti, and tarkib-band were among the poem types he used. His contribution to the ghazal's evolution was considerable.
