The battle of Cuiti Cuanavake was brought about by the attempt of Angilan troops in conjunction with Cuban advisors and soldiers, USSR, etc to fight and displace the South African troops and their aloies called UNITA from the southern part of ANgola which they illegally occippied. At first, the UBITA an their South Africa alkies defeated the FAPLA and forced them to move to the east of Cuito Cuanavake from Mavinga. The FAPLA then restrategized an they got full support from the Cuban troops and launched an attack on the INITA in their Mavinga headquater and displaced them towards the South.
