Explain how president Kennedy reacted to the discovery of the soviet missiles in Cuba

Upon discovery of the missiles, he sent Khrushchev a letter that explained that the United States would not allow the delivery of offensive weapons to Cuba.

He also ordered the Soviets to dismantle the missile bases (either completed or under construction) and return all the offensive weapons to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
