What can you as a law officer do to improve service delivery to the community?
Encourage the use of systematic and appropriate reactions to violent incidents: Develop clear rules, protocols, and procedures to advise police who receive the initial call for help or arrive at the scene of an event.
Create protocols for effective case inquiry and documentation: Ascertain that tactics do not degrade or further traumatize survivors, and that intrusion into their lives is kept to a minimum.
As part of a multisectoral referral network, improve community-level coordination: develop effective referral processes through collaboration and coordination with other sectors, as these provide vital services to survivors in conflict, such as medical treatment and psychiatric counseling, protection and shelter, socioeconomic support, and legal advice.
