] Captain Beatty believes that books should be destroyed because their risks outweigh their advantages. Beatty explains that censorship did not come from the government but really the people themselves. The people wanted stuff to get done faster to they took advantage of technology but completely left out reading. They go so used to doing this that they didn't even think of reading and them it was set into place.

] Montag needed a duplicate copy of the stolen book. (bible) he also wanted to learn more about books. he wants advice about what to do next. Montag visits the old professor Faber because he knows the man has books and reads; therefore, he hopes Faber can teach him to comprehend what he reads.

Faber has created a listening device for Montag to wear when he is with Beatty. Faber can hear what Beatty is saying and feed Montag the information. Montag trusts Faber to give him valuable retorts to Beatty's flawed rhetoric. Faber is important because he helps Montag understand the importance of books, and he also agrees to help with Montag's plans to rebel. After Montag is turned into the government, Faber saves Montag by helping him escape.

] According to Faber, books are hated and feared because they "show the pores in the face of life." In other words, books do not portray a uniformly positive view of the world: they show every aspect of the world and depict every possible emotion, both good and bad.

] In Fahrenheit 451, Faber says that three things are missing from society. These things are high-quality information, the freedom to digest that information, and the ability to act based on what people learn from the interaction of those two things.

] Its the content creators. Faber responds that it's not the books that are missing, it's what's in the books and could also be on radio and television, but isn't.

] He got Faber to help by tearing out the pages in the bible. Faber reminded Montag that people who are having fun are reluctant to become rebels. Yes, this is true, since Faber had said, "So few want to be rebels any more.
