This reading strategy should be employed when you're reading anything complicated or that requires critical thinking.

The most time-consuming and labor-intensive reading technique is detailed reading. Each word is attentively studied, consumed, and analyzed for significance by the readers. It takes time and patience to piece together the meanings of words in a sentence to gain a better comprehension, but in certain circumstances, this is the ideal method.
