The sound of waves wakes me up. When I open my eyes, the sunlight blinds me. It took me about two seconds to realize I would fall asleep in my flight seat. The seat appeared to save me from collapsing into the sand. I see the water and a forest as I look around. It felt as if my skull had its beating. I remembered exactly what had happened: I was on a trip back to the United States after visiting a foreign nation when we encountered some unusual turbulence, forcing us to crash into the ocean. At the very least, I felt we had collided with the sea.
