Reading and writing activities based on the poem
A teacher can use diverse poets and poems he or she loves. When you’re passionate about the poetry you teach, your passion becomes contagious. It’s crucial, though, to make sure that, on the whole, the poets you teach are diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, age, and background. All students should be able to see some part of who they are reflected in the poems they read. In the poem "prayer about unity through diversity", the teacher can be able to teach students how to write a poem in a diverse way.
Also a teacher can help students identify specific characteristics of poems they like. When you give them the vocabulary for certain techniques in the poem such as slant rhyme, repetition, and consonance—they begin to read and write poems they like.
Furthermore, previewing the poem and reading it aloud a few times. I tell the learners that reading a poem aloud a few times can help them get an overall feel for the language, rhyme, and rhythm of the poem.
Visualize the images, clarify words and phrases.
