Freedom is one of the most critical aspects of the constitution that South Africans have long fought for. Many legislations have been passed, and constitutional amendments to address freedom rights. Today there is a significant achievement because people enjoy the freedom of movement, opinion, belief, religion and speech. Chapter 2 of the constitution protects civil rights; it anchors freedom of religion, opinion, and belief. Section 9 provides for the equality clause, forbids discrimination based on various backgrounds. Despite these provisions, however, implementation of constitutional requirements for freedom rights is not complete because their various cases of violations are reported yearly.
