Communication principles in a CBC NEWS ARTICLE

  • Clarity- This principle that the article ought to be clear in meaning. “A Thunder Bay filmmaker has released the first of part of a documentary highlighting the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on Thunder Bay.” (Ellis, 2021). This statement is clear in conveying its meaning that is easily understood by a variety of audiences.
  • Completeness- This principle states that the individual sentences and paragraphs ought to be unified. That is to say that they have to share a connection in order to convey meaning. For example, the article states, “Auld said he did not do this for a client and is not getting paid for it. He said he is now putting together part two of his three-part documentary.” (Ellis, 2021). These two sentences are unified and thus make sense.
  • Correctness- This principle states that the written article ought to obey the fundamental elements of communication, such as correct grammar and punctuation. This is evident in this part of the article: “The range of emotions is clearly seen. Auld said he was most moved by the sacrifice many first responders were making to do their job.” (Ellis, 2021).
