As South Africa has a large ontingent of unemployed and low skilled workers how do you see the integration process affecting the mismatch between the demand and supply of labour within the country?
South Africa’s current economic rebound could be
short-lived if the fundamental factors undermining
its growth potential are not addressed. Stubbornly
high levels of inequality reflect the weak capacity of
many South Africans to contribute to skills-intensive
economic development. Inequalities fuel contestation
and policy uncertainty, deterring the investments and
financial resources needed to innovate and expand
productive capacities, and to redress historical injustice
through targeted public interventions.
