Distinguish between formal communication networks and informal communication networks.
Formal communication networks use documentation of information while there are traces of recorded information for others to find or share in informal communication. Additionally, formal communication is one-way in most cases, while it is two-way in informal networks. An organization's formal communication network comprises all the communication that runs along its official lines of authority. On the other hand, an informal communication network does not
follow authority lines and is established around the social affiliation of members of an organization.
