*Lead*: Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Attah, says “the rampaging coronavirus is not only wreaking severe havoc on the economy and bringing nearly every economic activity to a halt but will also render 992,328 people jobless”.

 

According to him, the lockdown, induced by the covid-19, will lead to high inflation rates, depreciation of the cedi and cause the economy to stagnate, adding that the situation will lead to a surge in poverty. For this reason, the finance minister has called for an efficient and robust management of the economy in order to ameliorate the living standards of the citizens during and after the lockdown.
