the world. It also is a profound health problem, sapping women’s energy, compromising their

physical health, and eroding their self-esteem. In addition to causing injury, violence increases

women’s long-term risk of a number of other health problems, including chronic pain, physical

disability, drug and alcohol abuse and depression. Women with a history of physical or sexual

abuse are also at increased risk for unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections

(STIs), and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Causes and Effects of Gender-Based Violence

Globally, Gender-Based Violence has been a rapidly spreading habit as chauvinistic characters have dominated in many societies. In this case, most victims of gender violence are women in that they are discriminated against based on their sexuality. The process of discriminative factors is shown in communal responsibilities where women are made to work and toil much as compared to their male counterparts. Besides women's exploitations, they may also face oppressions and hostilities from the authoritative nature of most men. Therefore, the discussion mainly focuses on the causes and effects of gender-based violence (GBV).

To start with, the causes of gender violence are quietly numerous. Thus we are going to explore some and the first of it is the harmful gender culture. In this case, the issue is on the whole community where the cultural norms limit the rights of women as women are expected to be submissive ever to their male counterparts thus making them live miserable life under man’s control. Hunger and poverty is another cause of Gender-Based Violence in many communities. The reason is that with poverty and hunger women are being exploited both mentally and physically as they are made to be the ones responsible to look for food. Furthermore, there is war and conflict where man versus women has been the leading factor to the crisis as issues like early and forced marriages make women be discriminated against.

However, the effects associated with GBV are, mainly related with the human body where women being the main victims finds themselves in a critical condition like physical disabilities, trauma, stigma and corrupted confidence. Also, sexual harassment and abuse may expose women to a high risk of HIV/AIDS.

In conclusion, GBV has been a problem that has corrupted human rights as women are mostly mistreated. Here, there is a depiction that concerning GBV, women have gone through numerous complexities worldwide as male chauvinism tends to dominate everywhere.
