As seen in the novel, Small things by Nthikeng Mohlele, the theme of love is shown. The narrator begins the story showing how he is in love with the Desiree. He also reveals his challenges, both bad and good. Inspite of the narrator believing in love, he ends up lonely because he does not fall in love with either Mercedes or Desiree. Besides this, the narrator was also imprisoned and at some point became homeless.
