How one can discuss the implications of COVID-19 with student and parent
In a learning institution setting, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how the relationship between students and teachers used to be. Today as a result of the pandemic, social distancing is a big factor that determines the relationship. Due to the new regulations of social distancing, the student-teacher relationship is now being applied with precaution. This is because people are not allowed to be in close contact in public places such as in learning institutions (Ludvigsson, 2021).
The use of face masks is another factor that has led to changes in how the students and teachers relate. Face masks that are now being worn to help in the prevention process of the disease are now affecting communication negatively between teachers and students. Sometimes, facial expressions are important during the learning process. Unfortunately now, the faces are half covered and this has resulted in a limitation of the learning process (Phelps, & Sperry, 2020).
Another factor is the fear of the unknown since this is a new type of disease; most people are yet to understand how it affects and also how to completely prevent themselves from the pandemic. Sometimes, in the relation between a teacher and student, one does not know how to behave or how to act since there are many theories on the transmission of the disease.
