5.1 Identify the benefits for employee orientation to help you appreciate the importance of this process.
Include references in your answer
Employee orientation is important because it establishes a foundation for new employees. The
importance of first impressions cannot be overstated because they serve as the foundation for
everything that follows. Despite this, it is the most underappreciated function in many
organizations. Without orientation, a new employee may feel uneasy in their new surroundings
and take longer
to attain their full potential.
Orientation is important because it:
Provides succinct and accurate information to the new employee to help him or her feel
more at ease in the workplace;
Encourages employee confidence and assists new employees in adjusting to the job more quickly
Assists in the development of a more efficient and productive workforce;
Employee retention is improved; and
Encourages the supervisor and the new employee to communicate.
