In the short story “Man Lands on The Moon” by Sindiwe Magona, Makhulu Mamkwayi, the main character, grasps a diverse set of principles from her mother, igniting the leading conflict of the novel. Makhulu assumed communities existed below the waters as she had seen some of the prodigies of the underworld. Makhulu Mamkwayi embedded her views in ethos, and she did not consider the white man’s chronicle. She perceived and communicated with her deceased cousin, Yolisa, by the river and thought she could save her from the mystical procedural that would change her into a sleepwalker. She reflected on the news regarding a man walking on the moon a white lie.
In contrast, her mother understood and approved the white man’s accounts and became a changed into a convert. She did not have faith in her daughter when she spoke of Yolisa experience as her niece was deceased to her. After some time, Makhulu endures remorse over not saving Yolisa from changing into a zombie and shockingly accuses it of her mother later.
