There are various elements in a poem that will appeal to children in a poem such as;
Firstly, use of rhyming words. The rhyming words in a rhyme scheme of a poem make the poem musical. The words help in memorizing the poem, therefore, helps in easy recitation. This can be made through using words such as giants, sweet, and cartoons among others. Thirdly, use of onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a word used to imitate the actual sounds produced by an object. Onomatopoeia is used to control the imagination of the reader. Therefore, helps to enhance the ability to remember. An onomatopoeic word in a poem can be the word pop. Lastly, children can be appealed to by imagery. Imagery is a style used by a poet to vividly describe an action or a person, therefore, creates an image in the mind. The persona describes the appearance of a character vividly which helps in visualization.
