Despite the conflict in the story man lands on the moon, this short story can be seen as a celebration of the power of story-telling. Makhulu Mamkwayi is a gifted storyteller in so many ways. She observes a meticulous attention to detail and is always consistent - even though she has told the story of a man landing on the moon severally, not once did the details vary. Makhulu tells her story with such great passion that no one would doubt the veracity of her words. Her personality and story-telling tactics are quite compelling which helps the audience to empathize with her point of view even though there is irony in her story. She knows the appropriate time to tell her story - after dinner, when one is less occupied and not sure what to do. Makhulu adds emotion to her storytelling undertaking, which is an element of good storytelling: she expresses deep sighs, there is regret in her voice as she concludes her story and, she snaps to portray anger. In addition, she uses nonverbal communication - she shakes her head few times and hangs it down to express utter despair, furrows her brows and blazes her eyes in outrage - which enhances her storytelling by allowing her body to reflect the story she is telling.
