One of the many claims against online teaching and learning is that it “throttles practice”. Use at least two of your experiences as a student during the national lockdown to support your argument.
Coronavirus has had a negative impact on practical lessons. The digital learning embraces more theory than practicals. Full training should integrate both theory and practicals to help the learners to acquire the necessary skills in their fields. The pandemic made it difficult for me to consolidate my academics with practical skills. The pandemic discouraged all social gatherings including laboratory work, which is essential part of my coursework. Additionally, I could not answer practical questions through digital platforms due to limited writing and communication skills. Most practical lessons require repeat of skills, which was not possible with the online lessons. Practical lessons could allow me to observe and learn from others during physical interaction.
