According to David Brooks, the main factors that lead to individual satisfaction are personal experiences, socialization, and financial literacy. Individual relationships and interactions linked to personal consciousness, he emphasizes, decide their happiness. Similarly, how people interact with others, such as their marital partners, determines their satisfaction, much as how they spend their money does, for example, when they have the freedom to explore the world.

I agree with Brooks that personal relationships, such as marriage, bring happiness. Couples who understand and respect each other are happier than those who do not. Similarly, personal experiences that allow one to better oneself are rewarding and thus decide one's happiness. Finally, money improves one's moods and emotions by allowing them to think less about basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothes, allowing them to enjoy life more, which leads to happiness.
