  1. David Brooks affirms that personal experiences, socialization and financial literacy are the key factors that contribute to individual happiness. He stresses that individual relationships and experiences linked to personal consciousness determine their happiness. Similarly, how people socialize with others like their marriage partners determine their happiness parallel to how they spend their money for instance when they have more freedom to travel the world.
  2. Objectivity- Brooks uses more adjectives and verbs instead of verbs or adverbs.

Formality- The author uses formal language of writing throughout the text.

Complexity- The author uses more complex words as illustrated through his varied vocabulary and lexically dense sentences all through the article.

3. I agree with brooks that personal relationships like marriage make one happy. Couples that understand and support one another are happier compared to those that do not. Similarly, personal experiences that enable one to improve themselves are fulfilling thus determine ones happiness. Lastly, money elevates ones moods and emotions by making an individual worry less about basic needs such as food, housing and clothing enabling them appreciate life more which translates to happiness.
