Why is there a 1/2 in from on the vi+vf?
The formula for average acceleration is a = (Vf - Vi)/t, where Vf is the final velocity, Vi is the initial velocity, and t is the time in seconds. Initial velocity describes how fast an object travels when gravity first applies force on the object. On the other hand, the final velocity is a vector quantity that measures the speed and direction of a moving body after it has reached its maximum acceleration.
