Answer to Question #172462 in General Chemistry for Jin

Question #172462

Problem : Iodine pentafluoride is an incendiary agent , which is a substance that ignites combustible materials . Iodine pentafluoride is usually made by passing fluorine gas over solid iodine , but it also forms when iodine monofluoride changes into the element iodine and iodine pentafluoride . Chemical reaction occur is

5IF=2I2 + IF5

5IF = 2I2

I2 Produced = (2/5)×15 moles

I2 Produced = 6 moles

6 moles of elemental iodine (I2) is produced when 15 moles of iodine monofluoride (IF) react completely
