Answer to Question #130681 in General Chemistry for Heyam Karim

Question #130681
attempting to make barium phosphate by precipitation when mixing solutions of barium chloride and trisodium phosphate:17

3BaCl2(aq)FM 208.23+2Na3PO4(aq)FM 163.94⟶Ba3(PO4)2(s)FM 601.92+6NaCl(aq)

In one case, 0.510 g of BaCl2 and 0.533 g of Na3PO4 were each dissolved separately in ~ 50 mL H2O in beakers. The Na3PO4 solution was poured into the BaCl2 solution with mixing and the resulting suspension of white powder was digested at 80°C for 30 min to give 0.742 g of white solid after filtration, washing, and air drying.

2)When the same procedure was conducted, but digestion was carried out in a sealed Teflon bomb at 105°C for 3 h instead of 80°C for 30 min, 0.372 g of white solid product was collected and identified by X‑ray diffraction as Ba3(PO4)2, not nabaphite. What was the % yield of this product?
