Explain the biological species concept and describe the mechanisms of speciation.
The biological species are members of populations that actually or potentially interbreed in nature, but can be different in their appearance. During the speciation process, a single population of organisms separates into two or more populations that no longer interbreed. As a result, there is no gene flow between the populations and they evolve into distinct species due to isolation mechanisms and variations in habitats and adaptations.
