How various biochemical approaches are helpful in the process of classification of plants and animals?Give examples.
Biochemical approaches are used in DNA sequencing processes. These techniques allow identifying amino acid sequences and nucleotide sequences in the organism's proteins and genes, respectively. Next, biochemical approaches are used to identify the structure of proteins in different species and compare various biochemical pathways. These approaches can identify similarities between genes and proteins of different species. These similarities may indicate close phylogenetic relationships between the species contributing to their classification. For example, molecular biology analysis show that cetaceans are phylogenetically closely related with the even-toed ungulates though morphological are not obvious.
