Explain Miller’s experiment and its significance.
In 1953, Stanley Miller performed an experiment to check if inorganic compounds which occurred on primitive Earth billions of years ago could form organic biomolecules. He used an electrical charge over a flask with a solution of simple inorganic compounds: methane, ammonia, hydrogen and water. The process resulted in the formation of organic compounds comprising including amino acids.
Miller's experiment provided the first evidence that organic biomolecules could be formed from inorganic components during the early history of the Earth and supported the theory of evolution.
