One explanation for the feminization of agricultural work is that capital likes to employ women. Women are more likely to accept low-wage, irregular work, are simpler to hire and fire, and are regarded to be subservient and conscientious. Some vocations are perceived as being more suitable for women. All of these factors, in addition to the gendered division of work, contribute to feminization. They collaborate to keep production costs low while allowing for capital accumulation.
